What Our Pets Leave Behind
ANIMAL DANDER! Dander is skin that has flaked off of the body and settles into carpet, our mattresses, furniture and our clothing. Dander and pet hair is known to be a leading cause of allergic reactions.
THAT PET SMELL! Pet odors are due mostly to oils and pet dander being transferring into carpet and upholstery. Have you ever walked into someone’s home that smells like a ‘cat’ or ‘dog’? Many pet owners don’t notice that their home or automobile has odor problems because over time they have gotten used to the odors. A guest can tell right away if you have a pet unless you are a persistant cleaner. AES can help. We have a specific a cleaning program that is structured to remove odors at the source and keep your home smelling fresh & clean.
WHAT MAKES MY CARPETS SO DIRTY!? Don’t we all love the outdoors… our cats and dogs also love being outside. Playing and rolling around in the mud! Then, when they’re finished and decide to come back in to lay down… Your high traffic lanes get more and more soiled, you start to notice stains and spots starting to show up inside… This is because of a large amount of pet oils and soils being left behind on your carpets. But not to worry… WE CAN HELP! Call AES now to find out more about our Pet Odor Removal Packages.
ODOR AND PET STAINS! Urine from our beloved pets can and occasionally does cause permanent damage to your floor and upholstery. It may also create an unhealthy indoor environment. Ordinary topside cleaning of urine may often require many different steps other than cleaning to be truly effective. Upholstery and carpeting have many surfaces that can be affected. It isn’t only the top of the carpet or upholstery affected by urine. Often times the backing, the pad, and also the sub-floor must be treated or replaced before urine treatment is success. Additional concerns with urine is that the acid in urine can permanently alter the dye structure of the carpet or upholstery. We treat these with neutralizers, but please be aware that there are occasions where the dye structure is permanently stained from the acid. If pet was prescribed medicine from a veterinarian, this will produce a stronger acid that may increase damage to the dye structure.
OTHER VARIOUS BIOLOGICAL SOIL ASSOCIATED WITH PETS! Pets mean well most of the time don’t they? I don’t want to pick on our little friends, however, most of us are unaware of what they bring to the table, other than unconditional love that is. Animal feces contain parasites that generally stay within the animal community. There are studies by parasitologists that point human immune systems being adversely affected by animal parasites. These parasites are transferred to our home by animal feces and throw up. Generally a good practice is to blot the area where you’re pet has had an accident, other than urine, with hydrogen peroxide. This does a pretty good job at killing off any parasites that may be lurking within.
Pet odor treatment~
We Have Laid Out Four Options For Pet Odor And Stain Removal Which Are Dependent On The Severity.
To clean the top end of the carpet is often not enough to neutralize odor and usually requires additional steps. There are many layers between the carpet and the sub floor that indeed may be affected. Note that there is a difference between cleaning the urine stain and treating for urine odor. Cleaning urine spot’s doesn’t always remove the odor and as it comes in contact with moisture tends to INCREASE the odor in the air until it dries. Below we have laid out our cleaning options depending on the severity. Different circumstances require different degrees of treatment to fully remove the odor. Here we explain your choices for pet odor removal and lay out the expectations of what the results will be.
Light Soil-Surface Cleaning-50% Success rate
Pet odor- Moderate
The occasional accident where the pad and carpet backing has not been saturated
- First, the spots need to properly identified.
- Second, the necessary treatment will be sprayed on the top of the carpet. It’s a wise idea to treat each individual spot as well as the entire room since pets track their mess and spread the odor onto other sections of the carpet.
- Finally, we fully rinse and steam extract the urine and soil with our powerful van mounted cleaning equipment.
Moderate Soil- Sub Surface Treatment And Extraction-80%-95% Success Rate
The pet has contaminated the same spot multiple times. The pad and the carpet backing are contaminated with pet urine odors. Even though this method of treatment is a noble attempt, it is NOT guaranteed to eliminate the odor, but it is OFTEN successful thereby averting the inconvenience of having to pull the carpet up.
- First, the spots need to be properly identified.
- Next, we saturate the urine spot using a blend of encapsulate and stain remover penetrating deep into the carpet and pad to reach the source of the odor.
- We then use a specially designed deep extraction tool called a water claw to extract the cleaning solution and urine deposits deep within carpet and the padding.
- Lastly, we fully rinse and steam extract the urine and soil with our powerful van mounted cleaning equipment.
3-Heavy Contamination- Intensive treatment. 99.9% Success Rate
- First, the spots must be properly identified.
- The carpet is pulled back from the soiled area.
- The soiled carpet pad is removed.
- The sub floor is cleaned to remove the deepest layer of odor.
- We then apply an odor barrier/sealer to the sub floor.
- Next we saturate the carpet with a cleaning/deodorizing solution.
- We then extract the carpet with our steam cleaning equipment.
- Then we install a new carpet pad.
- Finally a re-install of the carpet.
4-Replacement- Guaranteed 100% Success Rate
Pet Odor-Severe with excessive carpet wear
There are times when the age & condition of the carpet combined with the severity of the urine contamination warrants replacing the carpet with newly purchased carpet and pad . The affected sub floor and baseboards must still be appropriately sealed and cleaned, a new pad and carpet can then be installed.
As you can see pet odor and urine contamination can require more than just a good steam cleaning. Pet odor and pet urine can ultimately lead to a full replacement of you’re carpet.
